Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
Originally from Oakville Ontario, but grew up in the Okanagan.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My daughter Payton Mackenzie, because I strongly believe you should surround yourself with people who feel like sunshine and she is the perfect example of that!

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Bia Bora because their team is as rad as their clothing.

Describe yourself in one word.
Determined.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
India, and to eat of course!

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Anything that involves water. Swimming, sailing, kayaking... it doesn't matter to me, as long as it is warm and there is water!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
2003...

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
My family.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Going to see my grandfather at work. At lunch, I would walk with him to McDonald's for chicken nuggets which we took outside, sat on the curb in the parking lot and talked about the problems of the world from the eyes of a 5-year-old! I wholeheartedly believe that somehow in those conversations/lunches I learnt that we are always being bigger than our problems, and the importance of always trying to make the world a better place... but more importantly I learnt that if you eat Chicken Nuggets on a weekly basis you are going to get sick!

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I work with an amazing organization called Elevation Outdoors. They are a local charity lead by their Executive Director Mike Greer, with a mission to enhance the lives of underprivileged youth via participation in specially designed outdoor sports programs. They offer their programs, gear, guides, and so much more to eligible local youth free of charge and rely heavily on community support, government funding, and the income from the events in which we host together!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Hatred and the fact people still justify its existence.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
I would sneak into my running shoes, choose a deadly playlist and head out onto one of the many amazing trails we have throughout the Valley.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?

I would like to see peoples attitudes change about some of our issues here in Kelowna. Instead of people constantly commenting/complaining about how our drug and homelessness problem is getting worse, I would like to hear what they plan to do to support these community members and how they will help to make it better. Why... I don't know... actions speak louder than words I guess.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The access we have have to local products, produce, meat, wine, liquor... we can really get almost anything right here.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Travel to India
2. Eat at Alinea
3. Write a bucket list so I don't have to google a third idea when I am asked this question!

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have yet to figure out if my mood dictates my playlist, or if my playlist dictates my mood... so choosing the first song of the day stresses me out a little!

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

What is the name of your business/organization?
BC Wine Cider & Spirits Festival.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Having been fortunate enough to host events on behalf of Okanagan Wineries for the past few years, my team and I learnt how valuable these events were, and thought it was a great time to use our experience to support the entire BC Craft Industry.

What is the goal of your business?
To help drive destination and local traffic alike to large scale consumer tastings, focusing on our members, and educating our guests to support local and to buy from BC. Oh, and to host awesome events!

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Work life balance! When you love what you do for work, it's hard to remember that you need more than just work to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Exactly the same. I have been through some things people would expect me to want to change, but I am absolutely in love with my life at the moment and am so thankful for absolutely everything that has gotten me to where I am today.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"Oh my gosh" Yes I say gosh... and I get made fun of it all the time!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"You will never influence the world by being just like it, and it's ok to live a life that people don't understand".

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Barack Obama. I find him fascinating and hilarious; I also may or may not have a weird fascination/obsession with American politics and I have so many questions!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
There is nothing more important than supporting your community and helping those around you grow their passions and dreams.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Starting the BC Wine Cider & Spirits Festival.... I mean my daughter... definitely my daughter haha

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Jessica Labonte, because she is the hardest working mortgage broker and mom I know... and she's my ride or die and that in itself deserves a shout out!
