Meet Lee Morrison! Lee is new to Prince George and has been living here for almost one year!
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My favorite people to spend time with are my beautiful wife and energetic three-year-old son.
What is your favourite local store in Prince George and why?
So far my favorite store has been Dolloramma! Anything you may need they have and sometimes brand name items.
Describe yourself in one word.
Warrior.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
After living in the lower mainland for the past 25+ years I crave solitude. I would love to visit Antartica but would settle on Siberia. I choose Antartica because it's a secret place and very few people have set foot on its mainland. Siberia is awesome!
What is your favourite activity in Prince George?
My favorite activity is playing in the playgrounds and parks around town with my toddler son. Life is amazing through a child's eyes.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I don't know what one to mention since most of my life's interactions end up in embarrassment. I guess the most ridiculous incident was many years ago at Wreck Beach. The beach was extra busy and I was struggling to put on my underwear. I fell over in the mud.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
My son has inspired me to be the best father I can be. All I ever wanted growing up was a dad.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My favorite memory as a child was spending my summers at the lake. Exploring and learning with my brother and friends on our own at our own pace. It was trulyy magical, I remember camping out on the beach and seeing fireflys that night for the first time. There were hundreds of them and looked like LED lights covering all the trees and flying in the air blinking off and on.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have still yet to give back to the community here in PG. I worked front line shelter work back in Vancouver for over a decade. I helped house thousands of people and got thousands more into treatment. I worked for a non-profit organization called Lookout Emergency Aid Society.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would reset every person's debt to zero. A fresh restart for all.
Where would you sneak away to in Prince George to spend some time alone?
Rainbow Park has a certain charm. I love walking around that park and ita never busy.
Where would you like to see positive change in Prince George and why?
I would love to see more low-income housing to help the people that have multiple barriers and are hard to keep housed.
What do you think makes Prince George great?
The city has not been sold out and owned by big corporations like in the lower mainland. People still have a chance to follow their dreams here.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Hike The Pacific Crest Trail with or without my family.
2. Ride across Canada on a motorbike stopping and exploring along the way.
3. Go to one of those perfect blue lakes you see when you fly up from Vancouver. I want to be the first person to have visited it. I'm talking skydiving in and hiking out.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I'm battling two horrific diseases. I have a rare form of thyroid disease called Painful Hashimitos and last year I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia aka the suicide disease. Please google or youtube both to understand what they can do to a person.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Sms messaging (texting) is the most personal means of communication for myself.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Papa Inc. lol
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
The only person holding me back in life is/was myself. Just Do It!
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Don't dwell on the past. You can not change the past, you can only change the future.
What do you always find yourself saying?
I'm always repeating the Paw Patrol theme song.
Tell us your best piece of life advice
Life is truly short. Try to make each day special.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My family is who I would select.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
So we can keep them open.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Getting my drivers license.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Shout out to my wife Anne Doll who has settled into her teaching job at Southridge Elementry School. She has been our family's main breadwinner since we moved to PG.
My choice for the PrinceGeorgeNow In Focus spotlight is:
Anyone. Everybody deserves to e in the spotlight.
Some general comments I would like to share are:
I'm looking for playdates to spend time with me and my three-year-old son at the parks and playgrounds around town. Since we left Vancouver and our crew of little friends and parents we have felt kinda lonely. Were having a difficult time meeting new people. We didn't grow up here and develop the friendships and bonds people in smaller communities have. If you see us out and about say hi we won't bite.
