Alberta couple celebrates third set of fraternal twins weeks before Mother’s Day

If it wasn’t for her work as a labour and delivery nurse, Pam Armstrong would be a bit more in shock over her third set of fraternal twins.

“We were very aware that this could happen but you don’t think that it actually would happen a third time,” said Armstrong.

Alongside her husband Taylor, the couple joked by saying “this is our grand finale” during an interview from their five-bedroom home in Red Deer, Alberta.

The family’s first set of twins were Parker and Emery, who both turned 9 this year.

They were followed by girls Brynlee and Adileigh five years ago and now the newest additions boy Maverick and girl Blakely three weeks ago.

Of course, Mother’s Day is an even bigger celebration when you have three sets of twins, but it’s still about the little things for the proud mother of six.

“They all made me special cards and told me all the things they loved about me, which was great. Then we spent some time with my family — my grandma and grandpa, my mum and dad, and some of my siblings,” she said.

“I didn’t have to cook or do dishes or laundry, which was lovely. We avoided all of those things for one day anyway.”

As for the father Taylor, he says having twins is never easy, but the 34-year-old parents are always improving.

“I don’t know if I’d call us a well-oiled machine, but we know what we need to achieve. We don’t always achieve it in that well-oiled way. We run a few minutes late,” he laughed.

“We’ll keep doing just the same old thing. Just keep on trucking. We’ve got a few more critters in the bunch now.”

According to Stats Canada, twins represent about 3% of all annual births in Canada.
