Canadian man wins 2nd lottery prize over $1 million since April

Lucky doesn’t even begin to describe a Winnipeg man who can now call himself a multi-millionaire.

Melhig Melhig bought a scratch ticket from a Giant Tiger store in Winnipeg last month.

That ticket ended up being a $2 million winner, enough to make anyone quite happy, but it’s nothing the 28-year-old hasn’t experienced before.

The big win comes only five months after his lottery win, which was a cool $1.5 million after buying a scratch ticket at a convenience store in Winnipeg.

Melhig is an African immigrant who used the first win to move his wife and children from their small apartment into a new home.

Now, he plans on using the funds to buy a business and go back to school.

"I want to improve my English and communication,” he said in a press release. “And I want to learn something useful, like carpentry."

While Melhig’s luck might seem unbelievable, he’s actually not the first Manitoba resident to win multiple million-dollar lottery prizes.

A woman won $1 million from a lottery ticket she bought at her grandson’s hockey tournament in 2005 and followed it up with another $1 million prize at her grandson’s hockey tournament two years later.
