An adoption success story is being shared as three adult St. Bernards who are best buddies were able to stay together.
The Edmonton Humane Society says Goliath, Gunther and Gasket have been adopted, and they all went to the same family in Calgary.
The shelter put out a call last week for anyone willing to give them a home where they wouldn’t have to be separated. It was a huge ask considering their huge food bill and all the hair that they will probably shed all over their new home.
The dogs are bonded, and would therefore become incredibly anxious when apart, but luckily there was a lot of interest. After publicly asking if anyone would want to take them home, the humane society received more than 200 inquiries on the first day.
“We have such a good home that we can offer,” the new owners, who will remain anonymous, said Thursday. “We have a big yard. We have a great loving family. We knew [the dogs] would be a perfect fit for our home.”
Goliath, Gunther and Gasket, who collectively weigh about 160 kilograms, are reportedly very playful and loveable and are settling in well with their new family.
“The response to the story of these gentle giants — from the thousands who helped share our call for help to those who offered their homes to these dogs — was truly astounding,” animal health manager Jamey Blair said in a release.
Hopefully the new family has a powerful vacuum cleaner!
