Survivors of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash reunite for the first time for a trip to the NHL Awards

Usually the NHL Awards are a very missable event, even for the most diehard hockey fan.

This year, however, you may want to tune in for a bit of the T.V. broadcast, as it’ll feature the 10 surviving members of the Humboldt Broncos’ bus crash.

Nine of those 10 players reunited at the Calgary International Airport on Monday and a picture of their smiling faces was posted to the team’s Twitter account.

“Broncos survivors have reunited for a trip to the NHL Awards in Vegas on Wednesday night,” the photo was captioned.

According to CTV’s Rosa Hwang, the 10th player, Ryan Straschnitzki, is undergoing physical therapy in Philadelphia and will meet the rest of the guys in Las Vegas.

The players will be recognized and honoured during Wednesday night’s awards ceremony and they’re not the only brave teenagers that will be.

Survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting will also be on hand at the NHL Awards as well.

You can catch the show on Sportsnet starting at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday.
