Energy efficient living has become a topic that more and more home buyers and builders are thinking about when deciding to purchase or build their new home in the Okanagan.
Not only are people trying to preserve energy and positively affect the environment, they are also trying to cut down on overall costs of owning their homes by incorporating different energy efficient technologies into their everyday lives.
Uwe Heyde, founder of Heyde Haus and who is originally from Germany, has brought over a new form of energy efficient housing called Passive Homes, or originally a Passivhaus. A Passive structure is a building that can be fully maintained without any heating or cooling systems in place, so essentially a passive home heats and cools itself!
Having a Passive House does not only mean that you are contributing to be more energy efficient, you are also building a home that is comfortable, affordable and ecological!
