A popular packaged salad kit has been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

While the recall is centered around distribution in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador, the CFIA is warning consumers across the country.

Certain 340 gram bags of the salad are being removed from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The UPC on the bag is ‘7 09351 89145 8’ and it’ll have a code of either FEB 16 2019, 2019 FE 16, 2 01B 032, 2 01A 032 or 2 000 32.

Consumers should not consume the recalled product and should either throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.

“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” says the warning from Health Canada.

“Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.”

Pregnant women, the elderly and those with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk.
