1. Waitress receiving praise for reaction to sexual assault at work
It’s something that happens far too often and 21-year-old Emelia Holden was having none of it. The waitress was working in Savannah, Georgia when a man reached out and touched her backside as he walked past. Holden immediately turned around, grabbed the man and threw him down. The man, Ryan Cherwinski, was arrested, charged with sexual battery and released on a $2,500 bond.

2. Hero dog who saved 12 lives in Mexico earthquake gets her own statue
A Navy rescue dog by the name of Frida, along with her coach, Israel Arauz, received their own statue at ecological park in Mexico. The statue is in recognition of the work they did during the aftermath of the Mexico earthquake in 2017. The pair worked together to save 12 lives.

3. Multiple deaths confirmed after tourist duck boat capsizes in Missouri
The death toll has risen to 13 after a tourist duck boat capsized on the Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. A total of 31 people were reportedly on the boat, including children, which capsized as a powerful storm moved through the area. Authorities have located the boat in 80 feet of water and it should be recovered today.

4. Everyone is chasing Kevin Kisner at the British Open
Through a round and a half at Carnoustie, Kevin Kisner is the man to beat at the British Open. The American led through round one after shooting a five-under 66 and he remains in the lead, despite only having played a few holes of his second round. The afternoon rounds only recently got underway, meaning there’s plenty of golf left to be played today.

5. Remains of 95 people found at Texas school construction site
Construction workers made a grizzly discovery in Texas this week. Remains of 95 people were found in Sugar Land, Texas on the site where a new school is being built. The Fort Bend Independent School District says the bodies are likely those of freed slaves who were forced to work in labour camps. It’s estimated that they were buried between 1878 and 1910.
