As colleges debate how to safely reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, Immigration and Customs Enforcement gave foreign students an ultimatum to either transfer to a school with in-person classes or leave the country.

TikTok, which is owned by China-based tech company, says it will end operations of the short-form video app in Hong Kong “in light of recent events.” The national security law recently came into effect in Hong Kong, providing police with the power to force internet companies to assist with investigations. Last week, Tik Tok was one of 59 Chinese apps banned in India, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the US is also looking at a ban.

The Maryland-based company will receive $1.6 billion from "Operation Warp Speed," the federal government's official COVID-19 vaccine program, making it the largest government COVID-19 vaccine contract to date. The program also awarded a $450 million contract to Regeneron to manufacture and supply its antibody-drug.

The border between Australia's two largest cities, Melbourne in the southern state of Victoria and Sydney in the state of New South Wales, is set to close at midnight on Tuesday for the first time in a century. Around 500 military personnel will be assisting police to patrol the 55 roads which link the two states, as Victoria recorded 191 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, surpassing its previous single-day record of 127, which was set a day earlier. Authorities say there are “provisions in place”, such as permits, to assist residents living and working in border regions.
