1. Ottawa boy, 11, dies after being pulled from Carp River

An 11-year-old boy who was rescued from the Carp River in Ottawa on Sunday night has died in hospital. It’s the second drowning death of a young child in Ottawa in a week.

2. Austrian Airlines plane badly damaged by hailstorm during flight

Austrian Airlines says a plane that flew through a “thunderstorm cell” was badly damaged by hail. A mayday emergency call was made during the flight, but the jet with 173 passengers and six crew onboard landed safely in Vienna.

3. Historic Toronto church destroyed by fire

St. Anne’s Anglican Church, a national historic site in Toronto’s Little Portugal neighbourhood, was destroyed by a four-alarm fire on Sunday morning. Father Don Beyers called it “incredibly devastating” for both the congregation and community.

4. Max Verstappen wins 3rd straight Canadian Grand Prix for 60th Formula 1 victory

It was a familiar scene at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal over the weekend. Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the race for a third straight year and hit a milestone with his 60th career Formula 1 victory.

5. YouTuber arrested for stunt involving helicopter, Lamborghini and fireworks

YouTube creator Alex Choi has been arrested and federally charged last week for a video he made last year. The video saw Choi orchestrate a stunt where two women in a helicopter repeatedly shot fireworks at a Lamborghini.
