A school shooting in Santa Clarita, California has claimed the lives of two people. It happened at Saugus High School and the victims who died are a 16-year-old female and 14-year-old male. Three others were sent to hospital. The shooter, a 16-year-old Asian male, shot himself and is now in “grave condition.”

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday to discuss their shared policies. Now that the Liberals have a minority government, there’s been a lot of talk about Trudeau’s party working with the NDP to get things done. Singh said on Thursday that it’s a possibility, but there must be “real, concrete steps to make people’s lives better.”

The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, but the real story was the brawl that ended the game. Browns star Myles Garrett got into it with Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and Garrett ended up ripping off Rudolph’s helmet and hitting the quarterback in the head with it. A big brawl ensued and Garrett is certainly facing a lengthy suspension.

Luyanda Botha has been handed three life sentences after admitting to the rape and murder of Uyinene Mrwetyana. The student, from Cape Town, was killed in August by the 42-year-old post office worker after his sexual advances towards her were rejected. It sparked protests South Africa over the government’s lack of response towards gender-based violence.

On Thursday, Taylor Swift published an open letter saying that Scooter Braun, the man who purchased her back catalogue, and Scott Borchetta, her ex-label boss, wouldn’t allow her to perform her old songs at the AMAs. They responded with a statement of their own this morning, which was quickly responded to by Swift.
