1. Japan to ban international arrivals amid concerns over Omicron

Countries around the world continue to respond to the discovery of the latest COVID-19 variant of concern, Omicron. Japan has decided to put strict border measures back into place and will be closing its borders to international arrivals starting midnight on Monday.

2. Tropical Storm Wanda may be last of this year’s hurricane season

There is not much concern about Tropical Storm Wanda, which formed at the end of October and is not expected to make land. However, it’s a notable storm because it marks the end of the tropical name list and is expected to be the final named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, which ends on Nov. 30.

3. Ti-Cats, Roughriders advance in CFL playoffs

It was an exciting Sunday for football fans in Hamilton and Saskatchewan. The Tiger-Cats and Roughriders both came out on top in their respective playoff games to book a spot in the league’s final four. The Ti-Cats will head to Toronto to take on the Argos next weekend, while the Roughriders will look to upset to Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.

4. Timbiebs now available at Tim Horton’s, along with Timbiebs merch

The collaboration between Tim Horton’s and Justin Bieber has arrived across the country. Starting today, Timbiebs are now available at all Tim Horton’s locations, but you can get more than the Timbits as well. There’s also a line of Timbiebs merch, which includes a toque, fanny pack and tote bag.

5. Virgil Abloh dies at 41

The creative world is in mourning following the death of Virgil Abloh over the weekend. He was 41. Named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME in 2018, Abloh was a fashion designer and entrepreneur who had a major impact through his work at Louis Vuitton and with rapper Kanye West. He died of cancer after privately battling the disease for years.
