A man is dead and police are investigating following a motor vehicle incident in the Interior on Friday.
According to RCMP, at 12:02 pm, emergency services were made aware of a possible fatality near the intersection of Horse Lake Road and McMillan in 100 Mile House. It was reported that a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree after the driver went into medical distress.
The BC Ambulance Service, RCMP, 100 Mile House Fire Rescue, the BC Highway Patrol and a CVSE inspector all attended to the scene. Upon arrival, crews found the man still in distress so they called out the air ambulance.
Unfortunately, by the time the helicopter landed, the man had died. Now police and the BC Coroners Service are conducting separate investigations to see what led to his death.
"The investigation revealed the local man had been headed westbound in his van toward 100 Mile House along Horse Lake Road, when the van was observed by witnesses to slow down considerably, start to weave back and forth and then exit the roadway to the left side, coming to rest against some small trees," said S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen
"The witnesses on scene attended to the vehicle and immediately assisted the man be attempting CPR, which was continued by BC Ambulance and 100 Mile Fire Rescue when they arrived on scene. After BC Air Ambulance arrived, the man was determined to be deceased."
Police offered their condolences to the family of the deceased and thanked the public for their help during the incident.
