Police searching for suspect who's allegedly throwing firecrackers at girls in the BC Interior

Police in the BC Interior are on the lookout for a suspect who is allegedly throwing firecrackers at young girls.

According to 100 Mile House RCMP, on Oct. 2 at 5:16 pm, officers received a report of a suspicious occurrence near Fourth Street and Birch Avenue. The complainant reported that their daughter and her friend had been walking near the intersection when they heard a loud bang.

The bang occurred when a man in his mid-30s with a moustache threw something out of his small silver car. Police believe the item was likely a cherry bomb firecracker.

A similar incident occurred the previous week, both at 3:15 pm. Unfortunately, there is no video surveillance in that area.

Further information provided to police appeared to show a similar man approaching two girls and doing the same thing at a Tim Horton's parking lot in August. Surveillance from that situation was obtained, but no further evidence was gathered.

All victims claimed to be disturbed by the incident. The investigation continues.
