This afternoon the Village of Lytton has issued a boil water notice to its residents in Loring Way, Ponderosa, Kent, IR17, IR18 and the Village Townsite.
At this time, Well #2 is out of service, therefore the Village has switched to using Lytton Creek until further notice.
Staff is currently in the process of completing UV system repairs, and with the turbidity of Lytton Creek still trending high the boil notice has been issued.
This notice affects all users, however, people with weakened or undeveloped immune systems are most at risk.
That includes, elderly people, pregnant women and their unborn, children under the age of 2, people with AIDS, cancer, diabetes or kidney disease and people being treated with immune-suppressing medications
As a precautionary measure, water users are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, etc.
Village staff are currently making their rounds door to door to residents who have been impacted, but up-to-date information can be found on their website and Facebook page.
