The Best Ice Cream in Penticton, as voted by you!

Penticton and ice cream. The perfect summer combination?

We can't think of much better, and luckily there's no shortage of choices locally for the tasty frozen confection everyone loves so much. Particularly on or near both lakeside strips, ice cream shops -- most offering a creative ambience along with their cones and shakes and more -- are never too hard to source out.

But which is the best? Come with us to find out in this, our look at the "Best Ice Cream in Penticton," as voted by you, our readers, and presented by our good friends at Visit Penticton.

Bronze: Lickity Splitz Ice Cream

In the bronze position is Lickity Splitz Ice Cream, an ice cream shop that didn’t even exist prior to 2019. But then Diana and Dustin Stirling, long-time owners of perennial favourite The Penticton Peach ice cream stand, got hold of the little space on Lakeshore Drive and weaved their magic.

Today, Lickity Splitz, home to a surfing penguin named "Lickity," 48 flavours of ice cream and some of the most inventive ice cream sandwiches you’re likely to find, is a crazy popular waterfront stop. As a bonus, it's situated in the same space as another Best Ice Cream nominee, the just-opened Cherry on Top Shake Shop.

You'll find Lickity Splitz Ice Cream at 1028 Lakeshore Drive.

Silver: Ogo's Ice Cream

Our 2022 runner-up in the Best Ice Cream category, Ogo's Ice Cream, is no stranger to locals, who seek it out not only for its highly regarded ice cream but precisely because it's located just off the lakeside strip where the mid-day crush isn't quite so severe.

But as much as customers rave about its yummy ice cream in all its variations, they also come for Ogo's light meals. Fresh-made stuff like paninis, salads, wraps, soups and even breakfast muffins.

Check out Ogo's Ice Cream at 166 Main Street in downtown Penticton, directly across the street from city hall.

Gold: Tickleberry's

First there was Tickleberry's in Okanagan Falls -- a tourist and ice cream mecca since its 1990 opening. A concession stand at Skaha Lake Park followed, but the big deal for Penticton happened just last year when Tickleberry's brought its distinctive brand of ice cream-slinging wonderfulness to the downtown core.

And now it's the winner of our gold medal award.

The shop is modern and cool and centrally located at the key intersection of Front Street and Main. Beyond 36 flavours of ice cream, available in cones and bowls and as milkshakes, Tickleberry's offers goodies like made-in-house cookie sandwiches, made-in-house ice cream sandwiches, and frozen bananas dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts or sprinkles.

Yum.

More succulent fare includes cheese scones, croissants and muffins, and fully one-third of the floor space is dedicated to unique products from local artisans.

It's our 2022 Best Ice Cream winner, and you'll find it at 202 Main Street.
