BC reports 148 new cases and 2 more COVID-19 related deaths, warns against large gatherings for Thanksgiving

Health officials in BC reported 148 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths on Thursday.

Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced that there are now about 30 exposures among the province's more than 2,000 in schools.

“That is not surprising to me," said Henry.

"Public health is there for every single school and we will continue to be there."

However, Henry also confirmed no outbreaks had been recorded to date.

The number of active cases has also continued to slowly decrease to 1,371, down six cases from Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the number of people in isolation due to potential exposure has reached a new record of 3,417.

There are now 61 people in hospital, 20 of them in critical or intensive care.

When asked about family gatherings during Thanksgiving, Henry said encouraged keeping it within your household bubble.

"There's no reason at all you can’t have it with your household bubble," advised Henry.

"We don’t recommend a large family gathering with elders and seniors, this is not the year for that."
