It’s a dreary and dark time of year when comfort foods and drinks reign supreme.
Sure, the holidays help overcome some of that dreariness (don’t get me started on January and February), but with just over eight hours of overcast daylight a day, we need something more.
You’ll certainly enjoy countless amounts of holiday chocolates, candies and pastries over the coming weeks, and more than a few adult beverages, so what if someone combined the two?
Well, that’s exactly what Langley’s Dead Frog Brewing has done through an exciting collaboration with Zilla’s Donuts out of Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
It started with the Jelly Donut Ale, which was released in the summer to so much fanfare that the brewery brought it back for another run in November.
Dead Frog then upped the ante with another limited edition donut brew, the Apple Fritter Donut Ale, which was released today.
“This monster follow up to our first donut brew is a crisp amber ale made with premium malts and a hearty helping of Zilla’s delicious apple fritter donut,” Dead Frog says about the beer.
The brewery promises that this low-hop, pink-coloured beer with an ABV of 5% will be packed with fresh apple flavours, a hint of spice and “donuty goodness.”
It will be a tall task for the new apple fritter creation to live up to the hype created by its jelly donut predecessor.
The original donut brew from Dead Frog is a crisp golden ale made with premium malts and a healthy serving of Zilla’s popular jelly donut – a blast of raspberry if you will.
Dead Frog has sent these creations to liquor stores all over BC for beer lovers across the province to enjoy.
You can shoot the brewery a message through social media to find out exactly where to find it in your city.
If you don’t have success finding it in person, you can always order some to be shipped to you through the Dead Frog website!
