We all know that this doesn’t always happen, but a local bridal boutique wants to give you peace of mind that when it comes to your dress, they can ensure it’s exactly what you want.
Sometimes it is hard to visualize what would look the best, or feel the most comfortable. Or you have your dream dress design but you don’t think it will suit your body type. Or maybe you haven’t been able to find a dress in the style that you love that makes you feel confident.

Chelsea Bussemeier, designer and owner of Red Velvet Bridal Design in Kelowna, has created her own label of wedding gowns and makes custom wedding dresses for her clients all in her studio in the mission right on Gordon Drive.
“No idea is too big or too small. When we start at the beginning of a design the sky is literally the limit. This ability to customize your gown to you, ensures that it will be comfortable and flattering. Each gown is unique and hand crafted, perfectly fitted to your measurements,” says Chelsea.
She has been sewing since she was eleven years old, and has been working in the bridal industry for over a decade, including attending design school in Germany and working as an apprentice seamstress at a bridal boutique in Hamburg.
Red Velvet Bridal Design gives Kelowna brides a unique opportunity to work with an expert fashion seamstress to create a dress that captures their personality and style while making them feel comfortable and confident at the same time.
With the ability to go into the studio and do multiple fittings throughout the design and creation process, Chelsea ensures a perfect fit so the finished product is exactly how you envisioned it.
How do you get started?
Start off with a design consultation at the studio! Bring in photos and design ideas and together you and your designer will put together an exclusive gown that is unique just for you.
Not sure what you’re looking for? Try on some dresses from her collection you may just fall in love with one. If not figure out your wishlist from the details you did like. After that she will have the design sketched out for you, will go through choosing materials, take your measurements and give you a price
When it comes to materials, Red Velvet does their best to find fabrics that are sustainable with minimal environmental impact. They also want you, the bride, to be comfortable in a breathable material. 95% of wedding gowns are made of polyester which is hot and does not breathe. But Red Velvet only uses natural and breathable fabrics such as silk, and rayon from bamboo.
All consultations are very personal, private and by appointment only. This gives you the opportunity to take your time when working with the designer to create the gown of your dreams, and have their full attention.
