Incumbent candidates win re-election in Victoria area ridings

Most of the incumbent candidates in the Victoria area have secured wins tonight as the final numbers roll in.

The incumbent candidate for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford riding has been re-elected tonight. Alistair MacGregor of the New Democratic Party (NDP) has over 43% of the vote.

The Conservative candidate Alana Delong follows MacGregor with just almost 28% of the vote.

The NDPs have also taken Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke. Randall Garrison, who is also the incumbent candidate, has secured nearly 42% of the vote.

Conservative candidate Laura Anne Frost and Liberal candidate Doug Kobayashi neck in neck with 20% and 21% respectively.

Green Party Elizabeth May has won re-election for Saanich-Gulf Islands. She is leading with 36% of the vote, followed by the Conservatives and the NDP with around 20% each.

May resigned as leader of the Green Party in November 2019 after the last federal election.

It’s also safe to say that NDP candidate and incumbent Laurel Collins has been re-elected for Victoria with 44% of the vote.

The Liberal candidate, Nikki Macdonald, follows with 25% of the vote.
