Workers at Highland Valley Copper Mine are being warned after a contractor on the site tested positive for COVID-19.
According to an alert from Tek, the individual was working in the LL-dam general area from Sept. 8 to Sept. 11. A positive test was received on Sept. 20 after a test was administered on the 18th.
At this time, the individual is self-isolating and anyone who had contact with them is doing the same.
"HVC is working with public health authorities and has taken the necessary steps to manage the risk of transmission based on our response protocols," wrote Tek. "This includes tracing all potential contacts and disinfecting work areas."
"We will continue to closely monitor this situation, take additional steps as necessary, and provide further information as required."
More to come.
