Kamloops RCMP charge local man with robbery and assault

A Kamloops man is facing numerous charges after police responded to a report of an assault in progress.

On July 3, just before 10:30 am police were called to the intersection of 4th Ave. and Victoria St, where multiple people reported an armed man was attacking another man.

The suspect in question had allegedly assaulted and robbed the victim before fleeing on foot.

“Police located the suspect on a pedestrian bridge and arrested him,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

“Thanks to the assistance of a civilian, who helped direct police to the suspect’s location, and the quick response of the frontline officers, the suspect was safely taken into custody without incident.”

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Andrew Jules Spencer Gizuk, 29, of Kamloops is charged with the following five offences: robbery; assault with a weapon; threatening to use a weapon; possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes, and failiure to comply with a probation order.

He was held in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 7, 2022.
