A Kamloops man is facing several charges after an overnight break and enter at a local fire hall.
According to the RCMP, officers were called to the fire hall on Dallas Drive around 10:45 am on Wednesday after the overnight break-in.
The thief had stolen several radios and chargers, a forward-looking infrared camera and firefighting gear.
“As part of the investigation, police identified and arrested a suspect shortly after at a nearby residence,” said Cst. Crystal Evelyn. “The stolen property was recovered and returned to the fire department.”
The same suspect had also been identified during an investigation into threats that were uttered the same day around 1:15 am.
As a result, he was also arrested and charged for that alleged offence while in custody for the break in.
Shane Lee McLeod, 21, of Kamloops is now charged with break and enter and theft, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property and uttering threats.
He remains in custody and is expected to make his first court appearance this afternoon.
