Truck catches fire after being rear-ended on Hwy 1 in Kamloops

Two drivers were injured after a collision on Hwy 1 resulted in a tractor-trailer truck catching fire.

Kamloops RCMP said firefighters were already on scene when officers arrived at the 1700 block of the westbound Trans Canada Highway.

The crash happened at about 5:50 pm on Monday.

Police said one tractor-trailer truck rear-ended another tractor-trailer truck, causing the first truck to catch fire.

Police said both drivers were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed briefly after the crash, then reopened partially while police collected evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage of the incident is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2021-26596.
