Kelowna RCMP have seized a duffle bag containing a prohibited firearm after being called to a back alley yesterday afternoon.
On Sept.19, 2019 at about 3:53 pm, Kelowna RCMP received a report of a duffle bag found in the back alley of Lawrence Avenue near Burtch Road.
A resident in the area found the bag on the ground and located a sawed off shot gun inside.
Kelowna RCMP attended the location and seized the loaded 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, clothing and other items. Police confirmed that the shot gun was modified.
“Frontline officers attended the location and seized the modified and loaded 12-gauge shotgun, along with ammunition and other items,” said Cst. Lesley Smith of the Kelowna RCMP.
“The seized firearm has been sent to our Forensic Laboratory for further analysis in an effort to identify a possible suspect and determine whether or not the firearm is related to a criminal offence.”
The Kelowna RCMP would like to thank the astute member of the public for recognizing the seriousness of the situation and for contacting police immediately.
