Routine traffic stop leads to significant drug seizure by Kelowna RCMP

A routine traffic stop on KLO Road led to the seizure of various illicit drugs on Saturday.

Just before midnight on Nov. 26, a Kelowna RCMP officer pulled over a Hummer which had an Alberta licence plate that didn’t match the vehicle.

When the officer approached the vehicle and questioned the driver, they observed a large amount of illicit drugs “in plain view.”

Two occupants were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

The officer seized 70 grams of cocaine, 34 grams of methamphetamine, 58 hydromorphone tablets, 2.4 grams of heroin, 40 ml of anabolic steroids and $1,600 in cash.

Kelowna RCMP seized other items consistent with drug trafficking.

“If it wasn’t for the keen sense of the officer those drugs could be on our streets today,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.

The Kelowna RCMP have not provided additional information about the arrest or whether charges will be pressed.
