Organizations across the province and country will have a chance to win funding to “build, enhance, or refurbish local diamonds and safe spaces in their community.”
The 2024 Jays Care Foundation Field of Dreams applications have opened to select the next recipients of the grant.
This past year, 15 organizations from eight provinces and one territory split $1.5 million in funding to improve their local ballparks.
Among those selected was Turner Park in Peachland, BC, allowing the park’s irrigation system, ball diamond and field to undergo work.
“We are excited to give organizations across Canada the opportunity to apply for funds to create safe spaces for young people to play,” said Robert Witchel, executive director, Jays Care Foundation.
“Jays Care has funded well over 200 Field Of Dreams projects across Canada and the positive impact they have had on those communities has been profound.”
Over the past 10 years, the foundation has funded $15 million worth of projects across the country.
Applications for the grant close on Oct. 31, 2023, and can be filled out online at this link.
The 2024 winners will be announced next April.
