Elderly woman succumbs to her injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Nanaimo

The Nanaimo RCMP has confirmed that an elderly woman who was struck by a vehicle on Dec. 31, 2020 has died.

Police said that the woman, who was in a motorized wheelchair, died in hospital.

As a result, police closed Bowen Road yesterday to take safety measurements of the collision scene.

In an earlier release, Investigators were able to determine that the woman entered the northbound lanes on Bowen Rd, in front of Tim Horton’s.

While attempting to cross over the two northbound lanes, she was struck by a green Kia Soul driven by an adult male.

The 63-year-old victim was taken to Nanaimo hospital with serious injuries.
