Dozens are flocking to City Park this weekend to take in the delicious and philanthropic fun that can be found in abundance at the fourth annual RibFest event.

As usual, you can expect five of western Canada’s most popular and award-winning ribbers.

These wacky and wild grill masters are serving up everything from half racks of ribs dripping with their homemade sauce, to scrumptious chicken and pulled pork — and you can try it all!

Vegetarians don’t be deterred, the event has plenty for you! From deep-fried pickles and onion rings to cotton candy and even vegan Beavertails, your dietary preferences won’t get in the way of your fun at RibFest.

Though it may be dubbed RibFest, the event is about much more than barbeque, it’s about fostering community.

“There are a lot of other events that go on in Kelowna, but we wanted to have something that was open to everyone with no admission fee,” said RibFest chairman, Chris Murphy.

Thanks to the free admission, the event is open to one and all — even the littlest rib lover!

At the back corner, families will find the Kids Zone that is bursting with everything from giant Jenga to a bouncy house, bubbles and more — in addition to a host of local artisan vendors sprinkled throughout the park.

Not only is a great spot to take the kids, but music lovers also won’t want to miss out on the stellar line up of local bands scheduled to hit the stage. The genre-spanning roster features R&B, folk, pop indie and rock. Click here for the full entertainment schedule.

And it just wouldn’t be a Rotary event if it didn’t give back in more ways than one. In addition to cultivating community, the event is raising funds for Kelowna’s new home away from home JoeAnna’s House, which is slated to open later this year.

“As rotarians, this is what we do, we give back,” said Murphy. “And the city of Kelowna, as well as the people, have been so supportive so far,” he added.

RibFest is on all weekend long at City Park, carrying on until 10 pm tonight and returning from noon to 7 pm tomorrow!
