UPDATE: Body washed ashore on Okanagan Lake confirmed to be that of missing kayaker

(Update: July 30, 2019): RCMP have confirmed that a body that washed ashore on Okanagan Lake is that of missing Penticton man Colin Palmer.

On July 20, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a deceased person having been located on the shore near the Okanagan Lake Marina.

Front line RCMP Officers, along with BC Emergency Health Services, Penticton Fire Department, and the BC Coroners Service attended.

The Penticton Fire Department assisted with the safe recovery of the deceased.

With the assistance of the BC Coroners Service, the RCMP can now confirm that the deceased is missing person, Colin Palmer. He had been reported missing by family on July 15, 2019.

(Original Story: July 17, 2019)

A missing Penticton man was last heard from before taking his kayak out on Okanagan Lake on Saturday night.

Colin Palmer told his family he was near Sun-Oka Beach in his kayak and he said “the water was choppy.”

That was the last time the 41-year-old was heard from and RCMP officers in Penticton are hoping the public can help locate the missing man.

He’s described as 6’0”, 160 lbs with dyed green hair and green eyes.

The kayak is baby blue in colour with a white hull.
