Canada to battle U.S.A. for women's Olympic hockey gold

It’s the final everyone expected, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.

Canada and the United States will play for the gold medal in women’s hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

The puck will drop on the gold medal game at 8:10 p.m. PST on Wednesday.

It’s the fourth time in the last five Olympics that the two hockey powerhouses have met in the gold medal game.

Both teams coasted to victories in their semifinal matchups on Monday, with Canada beating the Olympic Athletes from Russia 5-0 while the U.S. beat Finland by the same score.

Jennifer Wakefield scored twice in Canada’s win, while Marie-Philip Poulin, Emily Clark and Rebecca Johnston all added goals as well.

Shannon Szabados was only tested 14 times, but stopped every puck she faced for the shutout win.

Canada will be looking for it’s fifth straight gold medal in women’s hockey when the teams meet on Wednesday.

The Americans, on the other hand, will be looking for their first gold since they beat Canada in 1998.

The gold medal game will be broadcasted on CBC at 8:10 p.m. PST on Wednesday.
