She didn’t go as far as Lias Andersson, but fans were still unimpressed with the actions of Jocelyne Larocque after losing the gold medal game to the United States.
Larocque removed her silver medal immediately after it was placed around her neck, all of which was caught on camera and broadcast around the world.

It didn’t take long for the internet to fire back at Larocque, calling her actions everything from disrespectful to shameful to childish.
While many failed to see any issue with her actions and defended the 29-year-old, she still issued an apology on Friday.
“In the moment, I was disappointed with the outcome of the game, and my emotions got the better of me,” she explained. “I meant no disrespect - it has been an honour to represent my country and win a medal for Canada.”
“I’m proud of our team, and proud to be counted among the Canadian athletes who have won medals at these Games.”

She continued on to say it was a moment she wishes she could take back and that she takes being a role model to young Canadian girls seriously.
“My actions did not demonstrate the values our team, myself and my family live and for that I am truly sorry.”
Larocque had previously won a gold medal with the women’s hockey team at Sochi 2014.
