Kelsey Serwa skied to a first-place finish in the women’s ski cross event tonight.

The native of Kelowna, who grew up on the slopes of Big White Ski Resort, led for the entire final race finishing with the gold medal.

Of course, there was a massive crowd up at Big White watching Serwa's win.

After winning silver in 2014 at Sochi, Serwa was in the zone today, where she took an early lead and continued to pick up the pace on her way to the gold medal.

Fellow Canadian Brittany Phelan had to battle after a slow start, but was able to fight her way into second place for a silver medal finish.

Canada now sits with 10 gold, eight silver and eight bronze, tying its best-ever medal count that came at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Congratulations Kelsey and Team Canada!
