With November winding down, the holiday season is upon us.
It will really kick into gear in Penticton with the annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday.
To accommodate the event, Main Street will be closed to traffic between Eckhardt Avenue and Lakeshore Drive from 3-7 pm.
“Drivers are asked to plan ahead and move their vehicles from the street in that area by 2:30 pm to ensure the route is clear for floats,” the City of Penticton requests.
Floats will be staged in the Penticton High School parking lot before slowly venturing down Main Street towards Okanagan Lake when the parade begins at 4:30 pm.
The festivities are expected to end by 6 pm.
The City and BC Transit have teamed up to offer a free shuttle service on Saturday, which will take residents to the parade route from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre or the South Okanagan Events Centre.
After the parade, the shuttle will take riders back to the SOEC for the Penticton Vees game, and the annual Teddy Bear Toss, or back to the mall.
You can learn more about the Santa Claus Parade schedule and further details on the event through the City website.
