Penticton councilor, litigator Amelia Boultbee to run for regional MLA

City of Penticton councilor Amelia Boultbee, elected to her current position in 2022 with the most votes of any council candidate that year, announced Monday she'll run as the Conservative Party of BC candidate in the riding of Penticton-Summerland during the October provincial election.

Boultbee, 36, is a fourth generation Pentictonite and civil litigator.

According to Boultbee's Monday media release, she's "been involved with the South Okanagan Women in Need Society, PACE, and performs pro bono legal work in the community."

"She is running to address crime, the housing and toxic drug crisis," continues the release, "as well as the cost of living challenges in her community."

If she emerges victorious, Boultbee would replace current Penticton MLA Dan Ashton.

He announced just prior to Christmas that he wouldn’t seek re-election provincially, then revealed last week that he'd run for the federal Conservatives in the next national election.
