BC Mounties find fentanyl, meth and illegal guns while enforcing COVID-19 restrictions

Prince George Mounties ended up with a haul of illegal drugs and guns after investigating a suspected breach of COVID-19 restrictions.

The RCMP was told about guests at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on George Street supposedly violating public health orders on Wednesday.

When officers went to the hotel to check out the tip, however, they soon found a magazine “in plain sight.”

They then searched the room for more illegal items.

“The search yielded large amounts of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and numerous prescription pills. Police also found multiple firearms hidden throughout the room,” said Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

Stolen laptops and industrial tools were also found, police said.

Two people were arrested at the scene but later released pending further investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477 or online at pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
