One person killed in Prince George hotel fire

Police are investigating a fatal hotel fire that happened in Prince George on Sunday.

Emergency crews rushed to the North Star Inn & Suites on Victoria Street around 11 am after the fire sparked in one of the hotel’s rooms.

“When police officers arrived at the location, they were told that two people successfully escaped the fire,” explained Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Cooper noted that both of those victims were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

“A third occupant was later located deceased inside the room,” Cooper added. “The identity of the deceased person has not yet been confirmed.”

Multiple police agencies will be investigating the fatal fire over the coming days and officers will remain at the hotel until that process is complete.

Anyone with information about the fire is urged to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously submit tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
