Police renew plea to find man who went missing 8 years ago while visiting Prince George

Prince George RCMP's Serious Crime Unit continues to investigate the disappearance of a man who hasn't been seen in eight years.

According to police, Fort Ware-native Barry Blain Seymour was first reported missing on May 26, 2012. The 32-year-old was in Prince George for a family member's birthday when he decided to stay for another couple of days.

Seymour was last seen on May 23 while he was staying at a motel near the Sunrise Trailer Park on Lansdowne.

This investigation included an aerial search of the Fraser River between the city and Quesnel, a shoreline search of the Fraser, a police dog search along Lansdowne Road and extensive ground searches by Search and Rescue.

Officers followed up with numerous tips and interviews, though Seymour was never found. To this point, foul play was not expected.

"Like all our missing person investigations, we would all like to locate Barry and determine what happened to him states Prince George RCMP spokesperson," said Cpl. Craig Douglass. "We continue to have hope that he will be found and that someone will come forward with information that will further the investigation."

Seymour is described as a 5'7," 176-pound, Indigenous man with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows what happened to Seymour is urged to contact Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300.
