Police still seeking suspects, 2 missing dogs after break-in at Prince George SPCA

One week after a break-in at the BC SPCA’s North Cariboo District Branch in Prince George, police are still trying to track down those responsible and two missing dogs.

Police were called to the SPCA location at 8 am last Friday after the overnight break-and-enter, during which the perpetrators let all the dogs out in one area of the building.

Fortunately, one remained on site, two others were found quickly and the other two have since been located as well.

“Two of the missing dogs were being held as part of our animal control contract with the city and we suspect the break-in was related to these two dogs but this has not yet been confirmed,” the branch posted to Facebook last week.

The branch did not confirm whether those two dogs are the ones who are still missing at this point, but the RCMP is now turning to the public to track them down.

“Surveillance reveals that two people, dressed all in black, entered the building and stole two pit bulls,” explained Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“If anyone has seen the dogs or knows who the suspects are, we ask them to call the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 to speak with police.”

Cooper told NowMedia that, unfortunately, the surveillance footage did not produce any images of the suspects that were worth sharing with the public.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
