3 BC police officers test positive for COVID-19 after responding to ‘out-of-control’ party with over 100 people

In recent days, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix have been stressing the importance of avoiding big summer parties.

As the weather gets warmer and it finally starts to feel like summer, many seem unable to avoid the temptation of larger gatherings.

Whether it’s a drum circle at the beach, a house party or tying together a number of boats on the lake, the more people together means a bigger risk of transmitting COVID-19.

And not only do these types of things pose a risk to those in attendance, the effect can have wide-reaching effects.

“Two entire patrol teams of Vancouver Police Department members are off in isolation because of an out-of-control 100+ person party they had to respond to,” tweeted Ralph Kaisers, president of the Vancouver Police Union.

Kaisers said that three of those members have now tested positive for COVID-19.

He urged people to “please party responsibly” to avoid unfortunate incidents like this in the future.
