A different approach: BC Mounties appeal for owner of 'lost' cocaine

Sometimes, changing up the style of approach can yield positive results.

That appeared to be the idea behind a Mission RCMP news release from this morning that appealed for the owner of several bags of cocaine to report them lost or stolen.

The drugs were discovered in the ceiling of a public restroom by a maintenance worker on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 16.

According to police, they opened up a ceiling panel while doing some work in the building and found just over 500 grams of cocaine split up into multiple packages.

The RCMP is working on the theory that the cocaine was left there by a drug dealer for another dealer to pick up, but was found before that could happen.

“If the drugs are yours and you want to report them lost or stolen, please call the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161,” said the humorous news release.

“We will set up an interview at your convenience in jail cell number three. Please bring proof of purchase, or some other form of evidence, so we can confirm the drugs are yours.”

While drug dealers typically aren’t law-abiding, police stressed the dangers of leaving toxic drugs in a place where an unsuspecting member of the public could unknowingly be exposed to the substance.
