BC conservation officers relocate Kermode bear far away from residential areas

One of British Columbia’s most majestic creatures should be much more safe thanks to the hard work of the BC Conservation Officer Service.

Conservation officers based in Terrace have successfully relocated a Kermode bear “deep into the wilderness.”

It was done to encourage the bear to stay out of residential areas.

According to the BCCOS, this particular bear has been roaming the Kalum Valley area for years.

The Kermode bear, also known as the spirit bear, is a rare subspecies of black bear that only lives in BC’s Great Bear Rainforest.

It’s the provincial mammal of BC.

There’s only between 100 and 500 fully white Kermode bears in existence.
