In late June, the unthinkable happened.
A lottery ticket purchased in Ontario a year earlier, which had won the $70-million Lotto Max jackpot, expired after going unclaimed for 365 days.
Now, another major winning ticket is closing in on 365 days without being cashed in, and this time it was purchased in British Columbia.
The BCLC says a ticket, purchased in Maple Ridge, that won $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Sept. 28, 2022, is just three days away from expiring.
Like any Canadian lottery ticket, the winner has 365 days to claim their prize, which means this ticket will become worthless at midnight on Sept. 28, 2023.
Anyone who was in Maple Ridge around the date of the draw is urged to check their bags, suitcases and junk drawers, or anywhere that a lottery ticket might have slipped through the cracks.
The winning ticket was from the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw number 12299795-01.
