BC man charged in relation to 2018 video of feeding bears from his residence

A West Vancouver man has been charged in relation to a video that surfaced on social media in 2018.

According to the BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS), the man is facing one charge of feeding dangerous wildlife and one count of attracting dangerous wildlife under the BC Wildlife Act.

They added that the charges stem from an investigation that was launched into a video on social media that showed people feeding bears from their home.

The charges are connected to an investigation that was initiated after a video surfaced of persons feeding bears from their home in 2018.

The man is expected to appear on July 29th at North Vancouver Provincial Court.

“The biggest concern for the BCCOS with respect to feeding dangerous wildlife is the serious risk to public safety, as well as the safety of the bear,” said the BCCOS.

“By feeding a bear, or any wild animal, you are food-conditioning the animal and putting it in harm’s way. It also puts the individuals involved in the activity at risk of being hurt, or worse.”
