BC police plea with protestors not to bring children to Fairy Creek blockade

Protests at the Fairy Creek watershed continue to run full steam ahead, though RCMP officers are pleading with residents to do so in a safe mannor.

According to police, another eight people were arrested for breaching the injunction put in place by the BC Supreme Court, which would allow Teal Jones to log in the Vancouver Island rainforest.

Unfortunately, officers had to arrest two minors who had locked themselves in a "sleeping dragon."

Police are encouraging residents to do what they believe is right, though they are asking them not to put minors into dangerous situations.

"Police are aware that there was a call out for parents to bring their children to the camps supporting the protest activities."

"Today's enforcement included the arrest of two minors who were actively engaged in breaching the injunction by being in a tripod and locking themselves in a sleeping dragon. We are asking parents to help prevent their minors from participating in these dangerous and illegal activities."

As of Saturday, 222 people have now been arrested at the blockade. Of that number, 180 were arrested for breaching the injunction, 41 were for obstruction, and one was for counselling to resist arrest.

NowMedia will update the story when more is available.
