BC reports 667 new cases of COVID-19

British Columbia is reporting 667 new cases of COVID-19, this brings the total number of active cases in the province to 5,128.

Of the new/active cases this is where they are coming from in each region:

  • Fraser Health: 246 new cases (2,221 active)

  • Northern Health: 184 new cases (734 active)

  • Interior Health: 101 new cases (817 active)

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 75 new cases (724 active)

  • Island Health: 59 new cases (572 active)

  • Two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada (60 active)


There are currently 367 people in hospital due to COVID-19, with 152 of those individuals in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, 13 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,055 people lost in the province.

Of the new deaths 11 were reported in Fraser Health, and two in Interior Health. Deaths at the Willingdon Care Centre in the Fraser Health region are being reflected in today’s numbers.


There has been one new health-care facility outbreak in Northern Heath, and the outbreak at the Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre in Fraser Health has been declared over.

There are currently 19 active COVID-19 outbreaks in the province.

  • Fraser Health: Willingdon Care Centre, Westminster House, Magnolia Gardens, Manoah Manor, Cherington Place, West Shore Laylum, Mission Memorial Hospital, Sunset Manor, Evergreen Manor

  • Interior Health: Cottonwoods Care Centre, Joseph Creek Care Village, Overlander, Village by the Station, Haven Hill Retirement Centre

  • Northern Health: Wrinch Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of Northern BC, GR Baker Memorial Hospital

  • Island Health: Tofino General Hospital

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: Cooper Place

In the past week (Oct.7-13) this is how cases broke down from unvaccinated to vaccinated:

  • Not vaccinated: 2,478 (61.7%)

  • Partially vaccinated: 265 (6.6%)

  • Fully vaccinated: 1,276 (31.7%)

In the past week (Oct. 7-13) this is how cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age were broken down from unvaccinated to vaccinated:

  • Not vaccinated: 273.3

  • Partially vaccinated: 76.2

  • Fully vaccinated: 30.4

Over the past two weeks (Sept. 30-Oct. 13) this is how cases hospitalized broke down from unvaccinated to vaccinated:

  • Not vaccinated: 312 (71.1%)

  • Partially vaccinated: 23 (5.2%)

  • Fully vaccinated: 104 (23.7%)

Over the past two weeks (Sept. 30-Oct. 13) this is how cases hospitalized per 100,000 after adjusting for age were broken down from unvaccinated to vaccinated:

  • Not vaccinated: 51.3

  • Partially vaccinated: 10.4

  • Fully vaccinated: 2.3


Since December, the province has administered 8,025,356 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Of eligible people 12 and older in BC, 89.0% (4,126,668) have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 83.0% (3,848,689) have received their second dose.

From the eligible adults in BC, 89.5% (3,870,725) have received their first dose and 83.7% (3,621,151) received their second dose.
