Friends and family of Nicholas Funke say he was a "shirt off his back kind of guy.”
Funke was the Good Samaritan tragically killed on the Coquihalla highway just south of Merritt on Feb. 11.
He had been attempting to assist people who had been involved in a multi-vehicle collision when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
The 35-year-old from Surrey was a respected horticulturist, remembered for volunteering his time and helping with fundraisers.
Friends are now rallying in his memory by starting an online fundraising campaign to help his family cover the costs of a memorial.
By Friday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised close to $16,000 of it’s $20,000 goal.
