For Norma Flach, the answer is pretty simple when she was asked about what she’ll do after winning the lottery.
“I love to garden and travel in my free time. Plants and plane tickets – that’s what I enjoy! This win means I can enjoy retirement and continue travelling,” she explained.
The Victoria resident has a world of opportunities available to her after securing a $1-million Maxmillions prize from the Lotto Max draw on Aug. 9.
The first person Flach told the life-changing news to was her husband and she ensured he was sitting down first.
“He first thought I was going to share something bad, but I kept repeating, ‘It’s good news!’. When I finally told him I won he was in disbelief, and I had to repeat myself,” Flach said.
Her husband wasn’t the only one shocked by the news, as she went through the same reaction herself when she checked her winning ticket at Tillicum Centre Mall.
Flach says she was taken aback when the lottery kiosk employee told her she was a major winner.
“It was super surreal,” she noted. “I was just in shock.”
Retirement will certainly be easier for Flach thanks to the massive windfall and it will likely mean a few extra perennials and bucket-list trips.
