Residents over the age of 60 can now register for a COVID-19 vaccine

The BC Government continues to plow away at its vaccination plan with the latest news coming on Saturday.

According to the province, residents aged 60 and above can now register to be vaccinated for COVID-19. The update comes as the provinces nears one million total doses given.

In addition to those over 60, Indigenous people over 18 and the clinically vulnerable can also register.

In order to get yourself an appointment, you must either call 1-833-838-2323, do so in person at your nearest Services BC building or online through here.

"Registration is the first step," wrote the province. "Once people are registered, they will be contacted when it is their turn to book a vaccine appointment. To preserve system capacity, wait until your age group is called to register."

"BC's age-based program runs parallel to the pharmacy program for people between the ages of 55 and 65. Now, anyone between 55 and 65 years of age is eligible to be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine in local pharmacies throughout the province."

Since the province opened its "Get Vaccinated" site on April 6, more than 650,000 people have registered with more than 170,000 booking their first shot. A total of 170 different mass vaccination clinics have been set up around the province with about 40,000 residents getting their dose every day.
